The British Air Ministry 1936 1945 Scramble Bell

Scramble bell

This is a modest collectors website. It is devoted to the study of Air Ministry bells as issued to the Royal Air Force prior to  & during the Second World War.

Today  these bells are more commonly known as ‘Scramble bells’. Their image is often associated with a sunny wartime day; the quintessential  fighter pilots lounging around on Lloyd Loom chairs awaiting the telephone call, the ringing of the warning bell, the rapid activity and the running to nearby  fully armed and waiting Hurricanes and Spitfires. This is the iconic image.
